Barts Bash 2017

This annual charity fund raising race in memory of Olympic sailor Andrew “Bart” Simpson takes place at Aldeburgh YC on Saturday 16th September. This year a portion of the funds raised by this truly international event will be used to help re-build hurricane damaged sailing clubs in the Caribbean that have an active local youth programme.

The Aldeburgh local event is held in conjunction with our friends at neighbouring clubs Orford and Slaughden. There will be 4 race starts (fast handicap 2:15pm, Loch Long 2:20pm and slow handicap at 2:25pm) and an additional Bart’s Bash Fun Race at 2.30pm.  All races will be sailed over the same course. The results for the first three starts will count for the Autumn Series in the normal way but in  addition an overall handicap result will be calculated. The handicap results will be uploaded into the Bart’s Bash Global results (so you will be able to see how you rank in the whole world!)

A briefing will be held in the clubhouse at 1pm.  Entry is by donation – suggested donation £10 (£5 for juniors) to raise money for the many good causes supported by the Andrew Simpson Foundation.

This event has been very well supported in previous years – please come along and make the 2017 race a success and have a fun afternoon.
