Club Update Saturday 21st March – Coronavirus

After much deliberation we have reluctantly concluded that to protect our staff and help limit the spread of the virus to members and the wider community, we must restrict activity at the Club, in particular, access to the buildings and staff. We will, however endeavor to keep the outside areas open for members to enjoy and use their boats. The Clubhouse will be closed and there will be no organised Club activity on or off the water until further notice. Members are free to sail their own boats in the knowledge no outside support can be anticipated.

The Officers and General Committee have the situation under constant review and seek opportunities to improve this outlook as soon as official advice and our duty of care to staff and participants allows.

Please note the following

• The AGM is scheduled for Easter Saturday 11th April. There will be a further announcement about this in due course.
• Members who wish to bring their boat onto the Dinghy Park are free to do so anytime. Please maintain a 2 metre separation from any staff and members who are present. Please then Email the space number occupied by your boat to and we will bill you. There will be no access to storage containers.
• Members who wish to have their boat launched by the boatmen and put on a mooring should Email their instructions to and include a telephone number. Check you receive a confirmation message from us, then bring the boat to the Car Park and leave it near the crane. The boatmen will be instructed not to touch the boat for 24 hours and then to act upon your instructions. We will call you once the boat is on a mooring. Please do not plan to be present for launching but maintain a 2 metre separation from any staff and members you do encounter.
• There will be no supporting ferry services.
• Any Member who wishes to sail their boat is of course welcome to do so with the usual caveat that the skipper is responsible for deciding whether it is safe to take to the water and in the knowledge that no outside support can be anticipated.
• We will continue to review how and whether we can offer further support to activities.
• We aim to keep communicating as the situation develops. We ask any Member who has not yet given us their Email or mobile to send details to Please pass this message on to anyone in the club who you know does not have internet access.
• We continue to welcome feedback which should be sent to .
• Be aware that in addition to the above the Club will be conducting a handover from David Keates to the new Club manager Karen Baron 23rd March, Please accept that responses from enquiries to the office may take a little longer than we would have liked.
