FOOD AND DRINK AT AYC – OCTOBER-DECEMBER 2020

We continue to work to ensure the club remains as safe as possible but do ask for your support to ensure the process put in place is followed.

When you arrive at the club, everyone must sign in, wear a face covering while moving around the club and go and sit down.  It will only be table service for both food and drink.

You will be given a time slot with your booking and ask that you come in and go straight to your table.  Your food and drink order will be taken at the table and be brought to you from the Galley.

Each host booking a table will be responsible for providing the names of your guests for the test and trace.  Saturday Pizzas can also be pre-booked but you can turn up on the day and you will be offered takeaway if there is no table availability.

The Bar – please ensure your party enjoy any pre-lunch drinks seated in Riverview, on the Terrace or ideally go straight to your table.  To help us make the club as safe as possible, please ENSURE SOCIAL

DISTANCING AND NO STANDING AROUND THE BAR AREA WITH DRINKS.  The Chart Room is now set up with soft seating to provide additional seating if required.

We look forward to seeing you and we do hope you feel AYC is a safe place to come and eat. If you have any concerns, please email clubmanager@aldeburghyc.org.uk or galley@aldeburghyc.org.uk as we are keen to hear your concerns and provide you with the necessary reassurance.

THE LAYING UP SUPPER – SATURDAY 24TH OCTOBER

Great news, the Laying Up Supper is going ahead on Saturday 24th October – although, as you will not be surprised, in a slightly different format. For all those that came to the successful Brasserie dinner during Race week, you will know that this covid secure format for AYC works really well by following government guidance for restaurants, to keep staff and members safe.

Please email your booking to
galley@aldeburghyc.org.uk and let Rebecca know the names in your party – remember max 6 per table.  On receipt of your booking, Rebecca will advise your seating time as this needs to be staggered to avoid a crush on arrival.  The menu is £30 per head and payment must be made direct to the caterers via Members card or credit card.
Beetroot cured sea trout, pickled beetroot, lilliput capers and wasabi creme fraiche
Beef brisket braised in beer and treacle, bubble & squeak, sticky red cabbage and fine beans
Bitter chocolate torte, mulled blackberries and vanilla cream
If members would like to add a cheese course per table then this would be £5.00 per person

The plan is that when you arrive, you will be guided direct to your table and both drinks and supper will be brought to you.  For ease, you will also have the option to pre-book your drinks so that when you arrive at your table everything will be on the table.  When moving around the club house all guests must wear their face covering.

Stephen will be in the kitchen, a great menu has been planned, and although a rather strange year feel confident that we can enjoy the usual banter and stories from our antics on the river.
Please book early as we have limited space and bookings will be on a first come basis.

We look forward to seeing you there.

HALF TERM HALLOWEEN-THEMED AMERICAN DINER SUPPER

Over Half Term, Friday 30th October, there will be a Halloween-themed American Diner supper. With two sittings:

  • High tea for young families from 5.00 – 6.30pm
  • Supper for ‘the older’ families and adults from 7.00pm – 8.00pm

Please email galley@aldeburghyc.org.uk to pre book and prepay. £15.00 per adult, and £7.50 for young children – max of 6 per table unless from same household.

A great occasion for young Members to come dressed for the occasion.  Although important to note, to ensure Covid safety the supper will be run restaurant style – come in,wear a face covering, seated at the table and food and all service will be brought to the table.
There will be prize for the best halloween lantern so we look forward to some impressive judging!

Starts at 10am.  The morning will conclude with a light lunch and glass of bubbles. Numbers will be limited as tables will be laid out to ensure social distancing, so book early to avoid disappointment – via office@aldeburgyc.org.uk.  The cost of the session is £25 per head. All you need to bring is secateurs, a bucket or bag for greenery and Christmas spirit.  We anticipate after costs that at least £10 will be donated to the charity.
