FRIDAY EVENING SERIES
Following on from the clubs highly successful Wednesday evening race series we are introducing a new event for this August starting Friday 6th, and then continuing on 13th and 27th. The new Friday series replaces the old August afternoon series. First start is at 18:30 and is currently scheduled as an All-in handicap, however if there are enough entries we will provide separate starts for different fleets. Why not book in for supper afterwards to enjoy the sunset and a make a great start to your weekend.
RNLI Jimmy Robinson Pursuit Race 7 August
The honourary handicapper has been working hard planning the annual pursuit race which he will be running on Saturday 7 August. Pursuit races provide a exciting climax with slow boats starting first (eg Optimists at 12:24.30) and the fast boats last (eg International Canoe at 13:23.19) , all aiming to finish at 14:30 and see who is in the lead. The race is run in memory of Jimmy Robinson and raises funds for the local RNLI station. Entry is by donation to the RNLI and suggested donation amounts are £10 or £5 for juniors.
a) Competitors need to take careful note of their starting times, and synchronise their watches with the Bridge Clock before going afloat.
b) Pay the appropriate contribution to RNLI funds.
c) There will only be a 5,4,1,0 starting sequence and flags for the first class entered. Subsequent classes will not receive a starting sequence for obvious reasons, but a single hoot will indicate your start time
d) The race will be finished on the water from a club RIB at precisely 14:30 - after this time do not overtake anybody as the RIB will proceed at speed down the fleet backwards from the winners noting all competitors positions.

Discounted Entry fees for under 25's in AYC Regatta
Generously supported by Air Manage Suffolk, we are now able to offer discounted entry fees for under 25's to the main August Regatta 15 - 20 August of £45 for single handers and £50 for crewed boats. This is a six day event in 2021 due to the cancellation of Aldeburgh Carnival and separate entry forms need to be completed for each series you want to enter (ie if you sail in both the morning and afternoon, these are different series and need two forms!).
To qualify for the under 25's discount both helm and crew must be 24 or under on 31 December 2021. (entry form on the website has been updated to reflect the discount options)
